05 v70r and a 01 v70 2.5t

Post by metalslug »

Wow it's been a long time posting. But I frequent. So I have searched and maybe I'm searching wrong, but essentially I have access to an 05 r and I own a v70 2.5 T. The 05 is WRECKED from the rear, but my 01 is healthy as can be. But the interior of the 01 is...well seen better days. Will the 05 interior be able to be swapped into the 01, I know calipers are plug and play, but just don't know about the interior panels, seats, dash ECT...

Thanks in advance.

I think a lot will fit but anything electronic will have to be kept and the seats have different mounting holes beneath them AFAIK.

The Volvo Parts Lisle website, I believe, is the most comprehensive on OEM Volvo parts, you can put each VIN in and see what parts are called off identically.

After you do that, can you please come back and archive results here?

Since they redesigned the interior pretty much nothing will be the same part number. Other colours, textiles, seams etc. Some things will probably fit anyway though as long as it mounts the same.

That's what I'm trying to figure out, it's only because I would have to buy the wrecked R, and if the seats don't fit, I'm screwed.lol. or if they mount, but won't move or something. I'll keep looking for info.

They won't mount unless you modify them. I pretty sure that's possible since it's just a matter of matching pieces of metal together.

They won't move unless you transplant the seat computer unit from the old seat to the new. If this can be done I don't know.

I may just have to look for 2004 seats, I think the 2001-04 are definitely interchangeable

There was definitely a CANBUS change in speed ( protocol?) from 2001 to 2004 so the control units won’t talk to the seats on those models. I doubt you canput a later CANBUS module into an earlier CANBUS car, but I am a bear of little brain.

I might be easier to transfer the skin and foam from the 05 seats to the 01 seat frame.

That maybe an interesting idea. Do all the molding and skin and foam. But maybe time consuming. Rear seats should be plug and play since not much changed that I can see.
