2003 S40 door removal - wiring harness

Post by kmesse »

Any tips on fixing frayed wires in drivers side door wire harness? I read somewhere I have to remove the door to get at the connector and at first attempt this is true. But I don't know how to get the door apart enough to get a new harness in (or fix the old wires).
Any posts anywhere on this?

Kevin

I see posts and vids about removing the door panel but not the door itself. I've found door harness removal but it's not my year. I've tried and I really think I gotta get the door itself off and dismantled. I believe it's just the 2 bolts at each hinge and a pin, someone confirm.

That would be my guess as well. Doors are generally easy to remove. Though I myself have not removed an S40 door to date, go ahead and try it. Just be sure you have adequate leverage to hold the door up so it doesn't drop down and get damaged. Some doors can be quite awkward and heavy. Good luck.
