ETM V70 XC Turbo, module swap/ "Engine System Service Urgent "

Post by lpl258 »

Hello I am the owner of this V70, and I did repairs to its ETM.

I am going to just provide the order in which things happened/repaired.

1. Volvo one day starts up in limp mode rough idling, Engine System Service Urgent dash message.
2. Went to junkyard found another 01 and took its TPS unit off and soldered it onto mine.
3. Volvo starts up not in limp mode, seems to do same crappy job of driving like once before Until I turned it off and the limp mode returned with horrible idle.
4. Go back to junk yard find a 2000 volvo with a contactless sensor repair done on it.
5. I put this throttle body onto the volvo its not programmed to the car but it operates, rough idle isnt paired to my car operating. no limp mode.
6. take the working throttle body apart disconnect each side senor prongs take out its computer module and replace with my old throttle bodys module. solder up nicely.

*apart from the part numbers the throttle bodys are identical same connections everything.*

And now were im currently at, the Engine System Service Urgent message has returned, and the limp mode is back.
Ive ordered a dice unit but that wont be arriving for a week or so.
Dose anyone know if this sounds like my original module is damaged? i took the inspection backing off and did not see any burn marks, what steps should I take from here?
I wish i just sent this thing right about now and not trying to get it done cheap as possible.... :(

turns out a yellow labeled Partnumber 8644347 was a plug and play. I cant believe how short this battle ended.
dice unit shows each sensor now not in the time frame/degrees offset from each other it was describing for a replacement.
car is running better then when originally bought around 120 thousand miles.
will check in to get stop neutral disabled... and hopefully i got a car i can depend on for another 100 thousand....

I think i R/I the throttle body about 12 times ive got it down to 20 mins removal 30 minutes install.
