Ok. So my car has this problem ever since i did my front main\cam seals. It will crank forever before starting. It will idle ok untill i give it some gas. Then it runs rough. I was trying to make a rear cam lock tool. In this job i broke a chip off of the exhaust cam follower i believe its called. A grey bell shaped plastic piece on back of cam that goes into cam sensor housing. I also cleaned pcv system befor the seals and noticed i have a few cracked pintel washers on injectors. Pulls code 0300 and 0340. It has good fuel pressure at rail on cranking and running. New plugs. Coils are good. Gonna check for vacum leaks and change fuel filter. But im worried that the chip on the plastic follower is makin it run bad. Any thoughts from anyone that read all of this? Thanx

I think the grey thing just positionsthe sensor and isn’t the cause of your troubles.
It sounds very vacuum related. Have you removed and inspected every hose? You can’t inspect a volvo visually

It does give the code 0340. Thought that was cam sens code. Ill check vac lines this weekend. Maybe didnt get all of em seated right while doin pcv job. Also on long cranking tac needle will jump a bit. And sometimes i hear a slight clank noise when i stop cranking. And it has a slight hesitation in the throttle when im starting off from being stopped. Still has great power and drives great. Just the rough idle.

Ive checked most vac lines. Does anyone think with the jumping tac when cranking it might be a etb goin bad? I may take intake off again and check banjo bolt to see if i got tht all cleaned and attached right.

My rough idle was a broken Evap purge hose buried under the intake manifold. Very weird. It would run on 3 cylinder speed when cold for one minute, then smooth out and run well.
It Is easy to snag the metal mount near cylinder 5 and end up with an intake manifold leak, too.
