B6294t head swap to b6284t

Post by Cmanner59 » Tue Jul 03, 2018 2:54 pm

Anybody know if the b6294t head will swap to the b6284t block? Also are the intake manifolds the same?

Not sure if the heads will swap. Best thing to do is check part numbers. As to the intakes I believe they are difference based on pictures I am seeing.

I appreciate the response, I was able to find out that the heads are actually the same as well as the intake an exhaust manifolds. Different cooling pipes an fresh air pipes however.

Glad you got it figured out. When I was looking up information on my XC90 turbo rebuild the only write up I found was for an early S80. The parts looked different in the write up. When I checked Ebay the parts were not listed as interchangeable.

Based on what you are saying - by moving some parts over you can replace/swap the slight differences to get a fully compatible head.

My biggest concern which I couldn't find an answer to was whether the cams are the same. As the displacement between engines is different it may be that just the stroke and was changed - most likely meaning the head and cams are the same.

Im using the 2000 s80 t6 head with original cams and intake manifold but with the b6294t exhaust manifolds and turbos. The downpipes are different, however the turbos flanges still line up with the s80 down pipe. About your concern, if intake cam solenoid is blocked/unplugged the cam WILL stay in 0 position with oil pressure OR you can use the non vvt intake cam from b6284t but you will have to block the oil pressure holes by welding shut or tap screws into them. This was information given to me from Lankku over at turbobricks
