Security key fob car no power

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Security key fob car no power

Post by mike64220 »

Went to start car and no power whatsoever. battery has juice but car will not start and lights will not come on. inserted fob into dashboard and still nothing. Fob stuck in dashboard. Water came in through sunroof drains. Could that have fried something? I've taken battery cables off and touched them together to reset system. Power came in for short time but car still wouldn't start then it shut off again.

Your CEM may have taken a bath. That is where I would start looking.

Ended up being bad battery. Once it was load tested it showed bad but still showing 12.7 volts when not under load.

Excellent news. You got lucky. Clean up those sunroof drains and make sure they work correctly. Make sure the drains for the windshield are also clear.

The CEM sits to the left of the steering column nicely tucked away - BUT in the path of typical water intrusion problems.

Good catch - I thought he had the earlier P2 model. Regardless - clean the drains.

Thanks guys. Yes I'd clean the sunroof drains a couple months ago but I guess more leaves or something got back in there. No good if brain is on the floor and there's water issues
