Hi guys,
I wonder if anyone had this issue,
The car is 2008 V50 T5 AWD Auto, I bought it not long ago and on the drive home I have noticed a slight vibration in the centre console when you hit around 1400RPM either during acceleration or deceleration (taking the foot of the gas pedal and letting the car to slow down). The vibration is very mild I would say most people who not into cars or look for such vibration would not notice it.
To give you bit of History about the car, looks like it had some work done on the gearbox so I believe the gearbox was removed when the valve body was replaced, it also had the LH drive shaft seal replaced couple of time but I can see it still leaking.
I put the car on hoist and I could see that the bottom gearbox mount was replaced with a new one (I thought that might be the source of the issue) and the mounting points for the propeller shaft connects to the body seem to be all good without any excessive movement in the shaft itself.
So based on my experience I think its either a problem with the transfer carrier (end bearing), incorrectly reinstalled propeller shaft (out of balance), or the LH bearing (where the LH side front shaft goes into) is on its way out which is why its still leaking from the seal there even though it was replaced couple of times.
So I wanted to know if anyone else had this issue before I jump into it and start pulling things apart.
Thanks
Slight vibration at around 1400 RPM V50 T5 AWD
Hey Fosgate, any chance you've solved the issue? I bought a 2006 V50 T5 in April with 84,000 miles on it and am having the same issue. It happens between 1,200 - 1,400 RPM...a slight vibration seemingly right behind stereo/dashboard. The car has also been misfiring all over the place since June, but I think this is an unrelated problem... let me know what you've found, thanks!

The engine is that car hangs from the mounts in front of timing belt case and the one under battery on end of transmission. The lower mount controls engine "swing" on those mounts. If one or both of the main upper mounts relaxes then the part bolted to engine or trans and settle onto the part bolted to body and pass vibrations. Usually it is possible to see the gap (or lack of) between the two parts. Marks from rubbing will often be visible.

So since I wrote that post back in 2018 I owned another two V50 AWDs and they all had that problem to a degree. My current v50 AWD I have has exactly the same issue with a whine (especially on deceleration) along with the a vibration in the centre console at around the same RPM. The car has done above 200k kms and again I have a feeling the issue is with a transfers (right angle drive) output bearing perhaps due to the transfer fluid never been changed in it and in the Heldex unit. Perhaps I need to look into doing this oil change.
Has anyone else experienced this same issue? As it seems to be quite common on P1 AWD platforms.
Thanks
