windshield washer pump-where to buy

Post by Esjay »

This is my first post-sorry if this has already been addressed... I am replacing the windshield washer reservoir on my 2006 V 70 FWD 2.5T which was cracked. There are 2 pumps connected to the bottom of the tank. One, which the smaller of the two, sits kind of upright on the tank (towards the rear of the car) and the other, larger one, which sits horizontally and is situated towards the front of the car. The larger pump is cracked and needs to be replaced. (Someone probably put water in the system and it froze...). I cannot find a source online for the larger pump. It has the following printed on it: VALEO 89032971 27-02-06. FCP euro sells the smaller pump but not the large one. Can't find it on eEuroparts either. IPD doesn't list either of the pumps. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Maybe also try with Ebay for a used one. These are reliable and used should work fine.

Thanks so much! I actually ended up finding it at FCP Euro for around $72. (Not sure why it didn't come up on my initial search). It is listed as "NEW Volvo S60 V70 XC70 Windshield Washer Pump-High Pressure Genuine 30699674."

- For the original washer pump, from what I can see, is made by "Transpar, made in China".

- FCP sells Vemo brand for ~ $5.00. Anyone here has any experience with Vemo brand (made in China)?

That can’t be right. The raw plastic costs more than that.

I just replaced one of these for my 06 S60. I first bought the Volvo part from FCP and when it arrived it had some cheapo brand name on it, I do not recall the brand.

Then I pulled the bumper cover (so easy!) and figured out how simple the replacement job is. So I sent back the Volvo pump and went with a cheapo one instead. IMO it is definitely worth trying a cheapo.

I have checked a few cars from junk yards.
The stock Volvo washer pump is made by "Transpar, made in China", this is the part that Volvo dealer
sells for ~ $75 or so.

The Vemo washer pump is made in China as well (per FCP website). But the Vemo is ~ $5.00 or so.
Such a dramatic difference in price!

I also bought a cheap pump online a while back, don't recall the brand. Believe it was from ebay. Works fine. Seem to recall the electrical connector had to be futzd with.

Yup
My experiences with bad windshield washer have had everything to do with the washer pump/level wiring harness. 9178882.
And you guessed it, no longer available. Yards around here are picked clean of them so must be real problem.
S60 and the V70 harness are different because of the rear washer in the V so be sure of what you,re getting.
I've been doing repair and always seems that ground wire corrodes full length of harness needs to be replaced to function again.
cheers Dean
