Hi. Good day

My 2007 S60T5 2.4 got problem like this...

When on top gear...then if i slow down and coasting, the 3rd to 2nd gear drop got clunking sound. Same sound also if i lightly accelerate and suddenly have to release the throttle pedal, got clunking.

If accelerating on clear roads from start to 5th gear, it's silky smooth

Is it auto transmission going bad or transmission torque mount worn out?

Thanks

Split from AW55 thread

How often has the AT fluid been changed? It’s generally good to keep these teansmissions’ Fluid fresh by periodically drain8ng about 3 liters and replacing with fresh, no flushes or pressure washes, just a simple drain and replenish.

I was getting that once in awhile on my '06. While coasting down, either during the 4-3 or 3-2 downshift, there was a clunk/bang with RPMs dropping so low to nearly stall the engine. The issue went away after simply feeding it some new trans fluid. I've been using Toyota T-IV.

I had similar positive experience with just a fluid change, solved a 2-1 downshift kick when slowing down on an incline

As for the clunk when releasing the throttle pedal, could it perhaps be a worn torque engine mount? Maybe look closely at the top one and at the lower transmission one. Hopefully it's that simple.

I notice similar behavior with my '07 2.5t V70. Have changed the ATF several times in the last 40k miles and inspected mounts etc, all look fine. Clunking got marginally better with fluid changes, but still present occasionally.

My guess was an engine mount as well.
