2008, c70, Coil spring broken (2)
I have a 2008 Volvo C70 that I recently brought to my independent mechanic for a four wheel alignment. They said they could not do the alignment because I have two broken springs, one in the front, and one in the rear. This vehicle has 50,000 miles, and I was surprised to have any broken springs, never mind 2 broken springs. Have any other members had this experience? approx $600 for 4 springs and even though the mileage is low maybe I should do strut and shocks while it’s apart. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Happened to me on a previous generatiin (2002) C70. First the left rear went, at about 50K miles, then about 10 years later one of the front ones. Just replace the ones that went, no need to do the other ones, they should and may never break. If the suspension has been ok and shocks etc are not worn out, I would leave those alone also.
Turns out that all four springs are broken. I did the front ones today, does anyone have guidelines for pulling the rears, I’ve never done rear coil springs before. Can’t seem to find any instructions on the web.

I couldn’t break the top of the spring from it’s seat. Not sure why, but I ran out of time and put it back together
