98 Volvo S70 N/A - Ac blowing cold, but out the wrong vents.

Post by ATarnowski »

So for years my S70 has had semi working/leaking ac but its ran cold, and now has stopped leaking so ive been using it more. Anyways, since the beginning apparently, (I’m not the first owner), the air conditined blowing air has always shifted between all of the settings, (face, feet, defrost and a mix of each one) every time I select the face setting on the knobs. I will get to what unit I have in a minute. Recently, even when I select face it just goes instantly to defrost. Ive checked my blend gates and they seem to be working. I have also unplugged the whole control knob panel while the car was running and that fixed it during the time the car ran, (face vents full blast), but then after the car was turned off then back on it went back to broken. I’m guessing this is a computer issue within the knobs used to control the whole system. Now for what I have... I have the 5 speed non variable fan, with cable driven heat and ac doors. This is my first time posting so hopefully this is all in the right spot. Thanks!

-Adam

If you think it may be an issue with the MCC unit, you could get one at the junkyard and swap it out. I'm not too familiar with the MCC, but how do the cables look? If they are stretched/damaged, that could surely cause problems.

They are pretty rare here.

I thought the air distribution was completely cable controlled but your description does not fit that model at all.

Give people who have MCC A few days to hammer on this.....MCC Hanmer...I’ll be here all week

Good one...

MCC cars are pretty rare though, most of them are ECC. There is usually one hanging in my local junkyard.
