The regulator cable may have jumped off the spool when the motor tried to operate with the window already at the fully open position.
You need to take off the door card to see.

I got door panel off, am not able to see well but it looks like cable is attached, would I be able to see that? (Im using mirror and flashlight.) Was able to push window up for now. Saw a video were motor still made noise but was bad. Any ideas? Just a girl trying not to spend alot

The 2000 S40 Window regulator uses a cable system. Most likely the plastics cable guides broke ( the plastics wheels) and the cable jumped track. You can get replacement cable guides from lots of sources.

When my 2002 V40's right rear door window jammed in full down position the cable had signs of fraying and had partially come off the nylon spool that the motor turns. The motor itself was still operating but to no avail due to the cable being damaged.
I obtained a replacement 2nd hand regulator with motor complete from a salvage yard and replaced the mechanism complete.
It is a tricky job in part only because of the minimal access to work in and one must be cautious to ensure the window glass does not drop down inside the door cavity whist removing the 2 phillips screws that secure the glass to the horizontal support rail. It pays to tape the glass to prevent it dropping down or to have assistance in holding the glass from dropping.
My door glass operated perfectly again once I had done the above and reassembled everything.
