So I have a spare 4 speed auto tranny for my 96 R out of a 94 T5. I thought it should fit. But then I read that in 96 they changed the setup of the cruise control to read the speed from the wheel sensors.
So is this 94 actually a spare or just an oversized piece of garbage to me?

It is a spare, they both AW50-42 transmissions.

It's a spare...but the wiring harness will need some splicing for speedometer.
