2006 V70 non turbo, fwd --help Identifying par 30645493t Topic is solved

Need help Identifying part. Have picture in phone, don't know how to post here.

Description follows:

Location: engine compartment, driver's side front, just in front of front left corner of air cleaner box. Has brick red electrical connector with green wire. Cylindrical about 1.5" diameter with black plastic cover. Lid seems to twist on, but is pushed up currently by a 3" long coarse metal spring that is roughly 3" long fully extended.

Any ideas what this could be?

Switch for electric brake booster vacuum pump. If it is all still there you can compress it in a vise to keep it all in postion and use epoxy (JB Weld is my choice) and put it back together. I slather the epoxy on the barrel of the switch where it separates and then put a wrap of electricsl tape around it. It make it look better and holds the epoxy until cured. Use the quick epoxy, 5 minute stuff. If you buy a new one it will be snapped together and epoxied to keep it together.

You probably could do that, but I like to get stuff out and clean/degrease so that I know epoxy will attach and hold.

I think the brake boost only calls for vacuum when you run out of it, which I don't think is often on an NA car.
