850 Wagon Hatch tailgate UPPER trim fascia - side clips?

The 850 wagon hatch (tailgate) U shaped upper fascia piece has 5 clips along the top (the center one being different)

However, the sides have a square projection which seems to be the receptical for some kind of clip. Looking at the car body, there is a 3-4" long piece of 1/4" thick foam tape in that area. They look somewhat torn. What sort of clip goes along the sides? Or is it just a friction fit on the thick foam tape?
