Poor range remote key fob s40

Post by Civeciv123 »

Hi guys, I've a problem with my volvo. Since I bought it has always had this problem, the keys (both) work only very closely. I've already changed the batteries but it's the same. I think therefore that it depends on the car and not on the keys. Any ideas? Thank you!

About 50 yards (45.72 meters) is the correct range.

Check the car's battery voltage with the engine off and after it has sat for 30 minutes.

The external antennas are in the door handles and the rear bumper.

Approach the car from different directions see if it makes a difference. If it does make a difference it is most likely one or more of the antennas or antenna wiring.

If it does not make any difference which direction, it is most likely the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) or the wiring to the KVM.

The distance is about 2 meters or less .. I noticed, however, that from the top with the car in front increases by a few meters .. Would you have some guide or scheme for the antennas? The car battery is also new .. Thanks!

Does this happen always, on any location, or you are testing on the same place? It could be a jammer nearby interfering your remote's signal (if you are close to a police station, a government building, etc)

It happens in every place. I think the problem is due to the antennas or the ECU of the car..
