1995 volvo 850 starting issue

Post by conversesmith0601 »

This isn't so much of an issue, but rather something I would like to explain to my friend who is buying the car from me. Ever since I've had the car (5 years), when you start the car, the ABS light comes on and the cars headlights or blinkers wont work. The ABS light turns off and everything works as it should once you turn the key towards you about half an inch.

Does anyone have any clue why this might happen?

Thanks!

It sounds like the classic 'ignition switch, electrical part' failure

Do your friend a solid and buy a new one from FCP IPD or EEuro and put it in, following this thread

About $50 fix, less if you value your friendship less and don't mind him/her getting stranded in a year

that wouldn't make sense, because that was already replaced a few years ago.

Aftermarket parts last about that long if they aren’t Volvo or OEM manufacturer

Abscate is right....ignition switch can be the only cause of this.
What i don't quite understand is...was the problem solved with replacement or did this re-appeared again after a while?
