heater core replacement

Post by hiatt123 » Wed Oct 10, 2018 3:28 pm

Hello all need some help. Mechanic took my dash out to replace my heater core on my 2004 S40. After the replacement happened i now have no fan, no heated seats. he of course wants cash to tear the dash out again. Can anyone give advice on what he may have missed after putting all back together the first time. I don't have the cash to tear out again, although I know that may be my only option. here's hoping SC

The climate control module could be unplugged or nor plugged in securely. That does not require any involved dismantling and is a very likely result of it being unplugged for heater core replacement.

on the back of the panel for climate control, where the fan, temp, mode selector knobs are.

Not sure how the S40 is but by all means have the car battery disconnected when working there

Many thanks. We did disconnect the battery and found a connector to the ECM disconnected. Simple as that all working fine and heated seats😀. Good lesson on the battery though I have seen airbags blow and it is not pretty

Good find. The reason for the battery is that disconnecting some electrical components will cause an annoying SRS message that needs to be cleared by the main dealer$$.
