So I wasn't being the smartest last night when trying to get some things that were dangling around my rear view mirror untangled and did some pulling and tugging and managed to bring the whole mirror down. The large screw that has the flat-head top seems to have slipped through those thin bars on the opposite side of the strong metal box with the three screws. I tried pushing it back up in there really hard, but I'm weak or it's not meant to go back in that way. I tried disassembling it (removing the 3 screws, revealing a hole), loosening the flathead screw enough to get those thin bars underneath it and screwed it down. The only next think to do from there would be to use those three screws to go up through the black plastic and also through the metal to hold the fixture in place, but the screws were not long enough.
When I brought it down, those screws were tight on the metal, so they were not a part of holding up the rearview, but I tried it anyways. I have no idea how to get that flat head screw on the other side of those thin bars.
Any help would be highly appreciated. would like to see my dad's face when I tell him about finding my own solution to this one, unless asking a bunch of other dads doesn't count.
I have a 92' Volvo 240.
Thank you. Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
