1998 S90 Aftermarket Radio- Light problem

Post by purplebeauty »

Trying to install an aftermarket radio in my 1998 S90. Bulk of the install is successful.

The radio (a Sony XAV-AX100 for those curious) has a "dimmer" function that makes the radio super bright when the lights are off and dim when the lights are on. The way this works is there is a illumination lead coming out of the radio that needs to be attached to something that gets a 12v signal when the lights are turned on.

Where might such a thing be?

Disclaimer: I had a stereo shop do the radio install but they didn't do this step and now want to charge me several hundred dollars to go back in and do this. Don't have a ton of experience working on this car (it's new to me) but am happy to get my hands dirty if this can be accomplished by an amateur like me :D .
