2008 C70 Timing Belt and Water Pump

I have a 2008 C70 with 77,000 miles. What is the recommended time frame to change the timing belt? Also, when I asked my volvo mechanic about changing the water pump at the same time, he said that those do not normally go bad on the C70, is that true? Just do not want to have to spend money twice should the water pump fail later. Please let me know your thoughts on both.

The Aisin water pump fitted by Volvo can be skipped to every 2nd belt/pulley/tensioner change.

Belt interval is 10 years or 100,000 miles whichever first

Risk adverse people stop reading here.

The timing belts really go on miles , not time. The evidence for this is Volvo changes the interval on PZEV VIN vehicles to 15 years 150000 miles with exactly the same parts. If the PO had happened to buy your C70 in a state like CA NY or MA your mechanic would change his number, even though the car is physically identical.

I, me, not you or anyone else, would run that belt to 100k without thought. I have 15 years/ 60k on my VW interference timing belt.
