Does swapping differentials affect ABS or anything else?

Post by poorfatjames »

Hi,

I want a new rear diff ratio for a project. I found a complete axle for sale for a good price, but it doesn't have ABS and mine does. Can I swap just the carrier (with the diff inside) and retain my ABS, or are there ABS sensors on the differential itself? As far as I can tell they're on the wheel ends of the axle

Thank you!

On 240s, just rear end differential has speed sensor.

I've never had a reason for using ABS braking....it does work in snow conditions, but with defensive driving (i.e., paying attention), there is a very small chance ABS would be used.
