Hello all,
I'm new to this forum. Been working on my kid's 2005 s60 2.5T. Originally had a burnt exhaust valve on cyl 4. I pulled the head and sent it to a reputable machine shop in town. Replaced all exhaust valves with new. Put it back in with a Reinz head gasket kit. Got the timing set to what I think is perfect and it fired right up. Changed the oil again after letting it idle and burn off whatever was leftover in there. Did a coolant system pressure test to ensure the head gasket was sealed with no problems. I'm getting more lifter noise than it previously had and seems to be on all lifters (these are solid lifters/tappets). Not crazy loud but enough to wonder. Drove it around a little, hit highway speeds and all seemed to be running fine. Started it today to a CEL for P0027 (EX. valve control sol. circuit bank 1). After a quick check online I tested the PCV system and found it to be faulty (puffs of smoke from dipstick tube and glove over oil fill inflates). I'm wondering if maybe I screwed up somewhere and blocked an oil passage to the head? When looking through fill cap it looks as though there is oil flippin' around in there. Hard to tell with the stupid fins they put over the opening. Should I go ahead and fix the PCV system? Is there a way I can check for oil pressure in the head? And what else could be causing this code? Guess I should add that this is the deepest I've ever dug into any engine. So kind of a newbie but I can get stuff done with the right info. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
