If you somehow manage your project. Remember to inform the next buyer about what you've done. If not for common decency I'll guess a US law suit would be costly....

Its a wholesale ECU and SRS reprogramming project. Naturally no one would do this for you due to liability, the "good news" is in NY you don't have to have either working ABS or SRS to pass inspection.

(How would that play in Sweden, Ratnalle?)

Not Ratnalle but swedish....
In Sweden (and Norway) that would not play. You would not pass inspection but get a month to fix the SRS or ABS light. Some people connect the bulb to another instrument bulb behaving similarly upon start. I think it's deplorable. At least if you don't tell next buyer what you've done. And even if you're honest you never know what the third owner knows about the faulty airbag. I thought US law suits made such a fraud very risky (in Europe we know that in the US you can sue McDonald's because the coffee was hot or because Whirlpool didn't mention that you can not dry you cat in the microwave oven...).

the buyer will clearly see that theres a race steering wheel on there. just dont want airbag codes/light. ive seen many airbag cars with race steering wheels.

I suspect you'll find that virtually everyone who has swapped the wheel, has pulled the bulb.
