Blowing air sound when slowing down

Post by Desthezuo »

Hello there, I am a new user to this site looking for some help for my Volvo s60 2013.

I can hear some very loud blowing air sound when trying to slow down, but it is fine when the car just starts or accelerating. Can someone help me with it? Is it still safe to drive for few more days? I will have finals next week so don't want to waste time before them.

Thank you!

Ruptured diagram in the brake booster.
Lift the hood, have somebody press down on the brake pedal.
Use your ears or a mechanics stethoscope to confirm the sound is coming from the brake booster.
In a pinch you can use a length of hose as a stethoscope.

You can still stop the car with a ruptured diagram, you just need to push harder. Also the loss of vacuum may or may not cause engine performance issues, it depends on now bad the rupture is.
