My 98 S70 has 197k miles and developed a new issue. When cruising on the highway with cruise control on, sometimes it will turn off randomly as if I were hitting the brake pedal. Sometimes I can turn it back on right away, and other times it won't let me set the cruise control again.
I've tried pulling the brake pedal back with my foot and shifting into neutral and back to drive without any improvement. If it were the vacuum hose under the battery I would think the issue would be permanent instead of intermittent.
Thoughs?

Search for my prior posts on this topic. I think ultimately I had to replace the cruise control stalk with a good used junkyard unit.

This happened to me when the Mass Air Pressure (MAP, not MAF) sensor failed. Cleaning the sensor helped solve the issue.

My guess would be a failing ABS module.

UPDATE: Issue was solved by replacing the cruise control relay.
I replaced the cruise control stalk at the time time but tested the old one thoroughly and it seems to work flawlessly even when shaking and rattling it around.
