AWTF-80SC Transmission Question

Post by PoppySheaf »

Anyone know if these two AWTF-80SC transmissions are compatible:

2008 XC90 3.2L AWD Tranny # P30783227

2010 XC90 3.2L AWD Tranny # P31259315

Thanks for any help.

Last 6 of VIN?

Based on what's in VIDA for a 3.2 I6 TF-80SC AWD-
Automatic transm, exch 1.00 EU 36050319 CH <355740
Automatic transm, exch 1.00 EU 36050320 CH 355741-543307
Automatic transm, exch 1.00 EU 36001234 CH >543308

These are the exchange PNs for whichever part is already in the car, specific to the B6324S (I6 3.2 NA) engine.
If you have a chassis number (last 6 of VIN) which falls into a range above, it's my logical "guess" that a TF-80SC AWD from one model year 3.2 AWD XC90 will fit and function in another model year 3.2 AWD XC90 vehicle, so long as both vehicles are within the same chassis number range. No idea what changes at the chassis breaks.

I don't see any break for TCM, it's the same part over the years and I believe this will need to be swapped so as to avoid compatibility issues with software and/or module serial numbers.

You might need do a software adaptation (requires VIDA/DICE) when you're done, for no other reason than to baseline the "old" TCM to the "new" transmission hardware.

If someone sees an error, please correct, I'm just trying some logic and guessing. Thanks

I am now in the exact same situation with the exact same part numbers.

Did you already do the swap? How did it go? Would help me a lot.

Regards.
