Hi all, I am attempting to install a new HU in my 98 S70 with the SC-900 original HU. I have found the following Metra 70-9223 unit online that is supposed to allow the use of the factory amp through the DIN connection. The only sticking point is that the info I can find (through multiple sources) says that it is only compatible with 99+ cars. Has anyone used this adapter to install a HU in a pre-99 car? If not has anyone done an install with an amp bypass? I'm concerned that I will lose functionality and sound quality if I don't use the factory amp.

Thanks for the heads up. I ended up installing a single DIN unit by tapping into the buried harnesses (way in the back of the cavity buried in foam) that bypass the on board amp. The new unit is rated at 4x50W which I think matches the output of OEM amp. It sounds just as good if not better than the SC-900 and it has bluetooth connectivity ... a win so far :D
