Advice on leaky transmission 09 c70

Post by wes39153 »

I have the engine and transmission out of my car and separated. My question is as follows; is it normal for my transmission to leak from the seal to the longer shaft (right side) if the drive shaft isn't installed? I have the shaft on a bench.

Thanks in advance.

No this is not supposed to happen, that driveshaft has no function in sealing the trans. For that you need to put in a new seal, it sounds like. I recently replaced the seal on the other (driver) side which was easy, other than the re-filling of the trans fluid.
