Feeling a bit stupid, according to the operating instructions of the car (which I found on "My Volvo" since the original is lost) says it should be a fuse box above the feet of the driver, see pic. I didn't find it! Checked the passenger side as well since our 2016 XC70 has a box there, nothing there either. Any clues? I have problems with the Bi-xenon automatic adjustment and according to the fuse description there is a fuse, #16, there to check.

Open the driver's door and look at the vertical end of the dash ....

MDK here. Looking at the picture you provided it looks like you'll have to pull the wipers and remove the shroud underneath them or it's under the hood...it would be hard to believe it's under the dash panel.

I think what your looking for is the fuse panel on the CEM. Look up there for a control control module.

Ok, thanks. I'm pretty sure you're right, match with pic of fuses, further up and much harder to access than expected...

On my 2006 S60, fuse box 2 is under the dash above the driver's pedals. I would expect your 2006 V70 to be the same.

There is a wide cover held by 2 torx screws - which is inconvenient for fuse panel access. After removing the screws and cover, the fuses are revealed.

As RickHaleParker mentions, the fuses are mounted on the CEM. The CEM is mounted under the drivers dash console behind the steering wheel. This allows space for the glove box on the passengers side. (My British Hanes S60 manual indicates fuse box 2 is on the right side unlike my US model but still in front of the driver.)

Found! Fuse box 2 is on the CEM as you said. "Just" lay on the floor and look upwards and there they are. The Xenon-fuse was not broken, unfortunantely. Use of long pliers recommended. Not the best place in my opinion to have the fuse for the 12V outlets for example...

Did you retrieve and try the fuse puller from the fuse box on the end of the dash before you started probing around with something that can cause electrical shorts and break things?

You're right, but I was careful and it was a bit too tight there.
