Volvo 850 T5-R on wheelers dealers

I PVR Wheelers Dealers on Discovery Velocity, lo and behold the beautiful T5-R was showcased.

I found a version on the net for those who cut their cord

Here is a youtube video about the Turbine wheel cracking, I thought this was a non issue? Likely, the low boost could have been from the CBV or TCV. To a non specialist a crack I agree may look bad. I like Ant, I think he's a great replacement for Ed.

Lastly, is it just the T5-R that are so desirable? What about the R? I was surprised about the value of the car, I had to nearly give away my T5, the letter R would have added 10 fold value.

Brilliant, thank you for posting! I love that show, in fact it's the only car show I watch:) Used to watch some other British car show with this guy that was a vet or something, very funny and interesting. Don't remember the name of it now but I could probably find it on Google.

EDIT: found it. Guy's name is Mark Evans, really funny bloke.

I watched that show when he teamed up with a guy in India, pretty good, He's kind of obnoxious though, swears a lot.

Rs are the fastest Volvo's sitting in the driveway - just cruise NC - they are everywhere.

T5 in second place behind June...

I watched this ep since it had the T5-R. I have to say I was very disappointed.
Ok, they did good on the bodywork. But as was said, the crack was at the very least not the only problem with this car. What about (vacuum) hoses, adjusting the wastegate and making sure all the related components are ok?
Also some mistakes in the video or voiceover.

To me the car looked pathetically slow in the videos.

Not sure about the price, but to me it seemed pretty high for a run down T5-R. At least the enginebay was pretty solid and untouched.
Sadly it is not the same without Edd.

Ya, I heard one of the reasons Ed left was because they wanted to remove some of the tech details. I agree they glossed over some of the details but realistically they only have so much time in a 1hr with commercial time slot. I'm sure the boost problem lay elsewhere.
I actually think Ant is pretty good, the rig he setup to test the turbo was pretty impressive and smart. And yes, way over priced. When it comes time to sell my wife's car I think I will buy an R badge, without it the T5, GLT are all worthless on the used market.

In the end producers decide what to include in episode, not mechanics. It's like that in every single tv show. Casual enthusiasts would make that car much nicer with the same budget.

Not saying the new mechanic is bad - I agree, the fault lies with the show - later seasons got worse and I understand why Edd left. There were many shows where they probably cut a lot of stuff. Since I know these cars it is just much more obvious.
