TPMS Sensors

Help, Advice, Owners' Discussion and DIY Tutorials on Volvo XC90s. The XC90 proved to be very popular, and very good for Volvo's sales numbers, since its introduction in model year 2003 (North America).

TPMS Sensors

Post by ggleavitt » Tue Jan 29, 2019 9:22 am

Have a post on another Volvo centric site but thought to bring the issue over here as well:
Noted UEM error for single sensor signal loss in the '08 a coupld weeks back, car had 09/07 built Schrader 315Mhz sensors (OE PN 30748991) installed so thought to replace all four. Saw some posts on VDO SE10003 Redi-Sensors and thought they were applicable to this vehicle out of the box. Installed the sensors and had a look in UEM, sensor ID does not register after the normal re-learn procedure (drive car for >15 mins at >25mph, let sit for 15mins).

When I go into VIDA, I don't see the sensor serial numbers registering in history or on the screen. Double checked to make sure the installed sensors were in fact 315Mhz, they are. Triggered each sensor and re-drove the car, even disconnected the battery to see if it might clear anything in UEM. No change. All zeros for serial number and pressure in the four boxes, history box on side notes all zeros as last 8-10 received samples. No errors for TPMS in VIDA, no CEL on dash.

Anyone swap out TPMS sensors with something other than OE and get them to register out of the box? Like being able to see the individual serial numbers in VIDA with associated tire pressure, that level of working?

Minimal information in this area, my hope is that once I'm finished I'll be able to promote a plug and play part number solution other than OE ($105 list each).

Moved this back over to Swedespeed. Have a set of Schrader 20156 sensors on order. Can check there when I'm done to see a fully working solution priced at around 50% less than OE.
