Any thoughts on the bad boy of Volvo's the C70 coupe?

Post by callahanoffroad »

I've recently become enamoured by the 98-02 C70 coupe, and I was wondering what everyone's opinions and experiences with these cars have been?

Oh and it's the bad boy of Volvo's because it's the least practical of all the Volvo's... :D

Specifically the coupe, hence the 98-02 restriction on the question. They stopped manufacturing them in '02, which kinda sucks.

I never really liked the look of the coupe. I guess i think coupes should look sporty, and a C70 just doesn't. Also, coupes are more fun when they are RWD, unfortunately Volvo decided FWD was the way to go.

From what I read, super problematic door/window controls. Never owned one.

Fortunately, most of the coupes came with the high pressure turbo (T5). Unfortunately, very few are 5 speed with a clutch.

Everything behind the firewall, except drivetrain, are unique to the C70. Doors, windows, and seats are problematic with parts hard to find and little expertise from other shade tree mechanics. Heck, even Volvo trained mechanics don't know how to work on them anymore.

I, personally, like the coupe. Especially the Saffron color.

If I had a larger garage, I could have more Volvos.
