2012 C30- remotes don't work suddenly

A stranger posted this question on another website - https://ask.metafilter.com/331153/Did-s ... cery-store:

"My 2012 Volvo C30's key fobs stopped working this afternoon. Both of them. I was able to unlock my car with the manual key in the driver's door, and start it to drive home....... However, there's a rapid clicking sound coming from (1) under my driver's seat and (2) the passenger door. .....". ( and there's more at the link, like disconnecting the battery!)

Read all the helpful rocket surgery on the link...I'd KISS and check battery voltage. Never heard of a low battery causing this issue, but you don't hear what's not posted...
