Catalytic converters clogged

Post by ZenkiDavid »

Hey I’m new to these forms! I have a 2006 Volvo V50 T5 Awd wagon and I have a muffler and resonator delete on the car. If I pat the gas around 2500 rpms the car wants to pop off and kind of back fire. Considering I have the cat, the car turns red and starts smelling  I think it’s time for me to cut the thing off. The thing holding me back from doing this is I don’t know much about the t5 or Volvo’s really. I didn’t know if it would require a tune and make the car run bad. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks a lot

It'll only run in limp mode without it. Plus it's a really had deal for anything living nearby. Removing the mufflers shouldn't impact the cat though.

So do I just need to buy a downpipe as a replacement?
