How to Remove Lock Cylinder '98 V70 T5?

We're looking for help on how to remove a lock cylinder on a '98 V70 T5. This is the driver's side door.

Remove the handle, via the two torx screws beneath the plastic cap on the inside of the door. Then pull the cap around the cylinder off the handle (just pulls straight off). Next you take a small screwdriver and insert it into the channel on the handle that is flanked by two screw holes and lever up - this releases the spring holding cylinder and it should slide out.

Attached two pictures hopefully illustrating what I mean. Should be apparent once you have the handle removed.

We’ve got the screws removed and can get the assembly partially out, but it seems to be hanging up on something. How do I remove the handle? Thanks again

The handle slides horizontally toward the back to get it to release from the door skin.

Be prepared for a real headache when you go to put it back together. The bar that goes from the lock cylinder to the door latch is a horrible bear to get lined up as you slide it back together. I fought with it for over an hour and I can't remember what clever method I used to finally get it reassembled since I tried dozens of things.

To re-install, get a flash light and look through the hole. The lock cylinder long tab only fits one way. If it does not engage the lock actuator properly, you will not be able to open the door with the key.

I posted some detail info in the past with photos.

We had some time to get back at this and we’re still unable the get the handle assembly out of the door. I was able to slide a dental tool in and pull on the retention piece as shown above, but couldn’t get it far enough to release the cylinder. Is there something we’re missing to get the handle assembly out?
