98 V70R Won’t Start

Post by jlbrando » Tue Mar 05, 2019 8:47 pm

Hey everyone. New here and just seeking out some help for my car. My buddy and I replaced the head gasket on my 1998 V70R AWD 2.3T. We followed a guide and were really careful about everything. Now that it is back together, the thing won’t start. We’ve checked for spark, double checked timing, made sure it is getting fuel, and there are no vacuum leaks to my knowledge. Anybody know what could be causing the engine not to start? It turns over fine and cranks pretty healthy, just there’s really no sputters or anything.

Let’s try some ether into the air cleaner to see If we can split it into a fuel or spark problem quickly.

That’s a big job done with many things that can go wrong. One thing is it’s very easy to get the intake manifold gasket wrong and leaky in which case it won’t fire. You will have to pull the manifold off to confirm you didn’t pinch a hose if you weren’t uber careful to clear everything.

Which parts did you use ? OEM only on gaskets
