99 S70 - Is there a trick to closing the back seat armrest?

The armrest/cup holder for the back seat has been open for a long time, and now I can't close it. It moves less than half way up before some mechanism solidly stops it from closing further. I have a feeling there's some simple method I've overlooked, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Is this happening by design or does it sound broken? Tried searching with no success. Thanks.

A picture would be helpful. These can have the folding mechanism get bent, but you could just remove the whole unit to investigate incase something is jammed in the mechanism.

It is held in by 2 Torx screws (one either side about half way up the armrest space) and then it lifts up and out.

My kids found a yogurt up would fit perfectly in there and jam it, so that’s where all the yougurt cups were found
