fault code 2-3-1

im currently getting the fault code 2-3-1 which means fuel mixture rich at part load stage. i drive to work about 30mins each day and recently the lamba lights been comming on and ive been getting the fault code. what is the probable cause, ive checked the spark plugs there still fine no sign of rich fuel mixture, ive used regular unleaded 91RON, premium 95RON, and optimax 98RON fuels and they all trigger the fault. any sugestions would be most appreciated.

if the engine is running rich, it shouldn't really have anything to do with gasoline octane. The higher the octane, the more the engine resists knocking (premature detonation). Checking the spark plugs was a good move, but you may want to check a few more things: o2 sensors, air filter (although not likely, wouldn't hurt), and maybe MAF.
What model car is it?

its a 93 850 gle, being in australia its only got the front O2 sensor. is there any way of cleaning it? plus its got the manifold air pressure sensor not mass air flow.

will the lambda light clear its self at all or will i have to contiunally clear it manually? any sugestions to my problem would be most apprectated!
