The side air bags are in the seat. The connections for them, I believe are under the seat.

I should have said that they are in the outer edges of the seats...shoulder level and right under the seam. when they explode, they will break the seam and come out to protect you against a side impact that is jarring enough (a sensor that senses the movement of the B-pillar between the two doors relative to the seat activates it). Make sure you disconnect the negative side of the battery before you work on this, or else you could set an SRS light on your dash...then the dealer has to turn it off. Check the wires from under the seat on the disconnects as well as wire going into the seats to see if there are any breaks.

On our old 850 we had an SRS light on...had a difficult time figuring it out. Finally a good indy mechanic found the mylar reel inside of the steering wheel had broken (it's on a reel so that turning the steering wheel doesn't mess up the connection to the air bag there) giving an open circuit read and turning on the light. Replacing this reel fixed the problem. Just a thought if you're looking for an open circuit in the SRS sytem.

I checked the fault code when the light came on.
It was code 233 for the B5 jumper, which I believe pertains to the side airbags.

It's a 95 850

It comes on sometimes, after driving for a bit, but sometimes not at all. Just started last week. Buggin the hell out of me.

Probably a break in the wire...attaching most of the time and detaching over pumps, etc. I have a fog light that has a wire like that right now...very frustrating.
