Recommended brand of Sway bar links 1996 850

Post by dcarlson12 »

At the rockauto link below, there are many different brands of sway bar links to choose from. Does anyone have a recommendation of which is the 'best' brand to use? Reasons?

I've used Mevotech Supreme on my 850, decent price and greaseable, figure that I would try them because I used all Mevotech parts on my Toyota 4WD front end, 45k on them so far no problems. Try to get something that greaseable. Good luck

cheap ones last two years. There arnt any parts for a volvo on Rock auto you would want to use except for brake parts since you have to replace those so often. Im not being snotty on rock auto, I use them all the time for my pickups. Its just that only Volvo OEM stufff works right, so you have to become familiar with who makes the different parts for volvo. such as Saches, Lemförder. Ina Continental,
Asian. Like grande said, FCP is easy and fast and guaranteed for life and free ship, if you can wait two days. Its best to have a second car if you have an 850. Take it apart first and then order.

There are many, many quality parts to be had at RockAuto if you know what brand to go with, smart question by OP.

In this case (end links) the Lemforder is a smart buy at $15 per side from RockAuto. Or $18 with lifetime guarantee from FCP.

It's never a bad idea to buy wear items from FCP, especially if it's suspension components and you live in the North.

I just removed a set of Meyle HD links that I installed about 6 or 7 years ago. They were still in pretty good shape -- no torn rubber boots and the ball joints still felt pretty stiff.
In their place I installed a new set of Lemforder links a month ago and they looked great and installed easily.
I probably could have put the Meyle links back in, but I was refreshing the whole front suspension with new parts.

Thks for all the quick replies.

To GlennG2759,
I looked up some reviews about the Mevotech and one site said that they don't have the hex socket to prevent them from turning during installation or removal. How do you hold them to prevent them from rotating during installation or removal?

Thks,
Dwight
