Missing hose and rumbling (03 V70)

Post by rd77 »

Let me preface with saying I know almost nothing about cars.

This hose (that appears to go from my radiator to my engine) is missing. Noticed it after a winter road trip where my heat stopped working on the way home. I couldn't figure out what it was to order a new one. Just got some shocks, coolant flush, and serp belt put on and told the shop to look at the house. Apparently they didn't because it's still missing. Now today, my car drove fine on the way to work but when turning the car on to drive home I noticed an immediate 'rumble' or vibration. It wasn't super fast paced, but was steady and got worse when in gear and driving. Check engine light came on about halfway home and then started blinking. My message window said something like "slow down or gear up" when the light was blinking.

Any advice? I've had this car for about 7 years and have only ever owned Volvos so i'm hoping it's a small fix.

Thanks!

That missing hose is a heat riser that warms the intake air for the engine, unrelated to your car heat

That rumble sounds like transmission trouble, you need to read the codes by either buying a scanner or going to a local parts store that reads codes then tries to sell you an oxygen sensor you don’t need,

You’ll need help to evaluate a transmission problem
