9452709 Alarm flashing.. no siren... no sunroof  Topic is solved

Post by MDK » Thu Apr 11, 2019 5:19 pm

This is a post mainly for Oragex. So, Oragex gave me a link to eBay for replacing the battery in the alarm. I got the battery pack today ... soldered it in.... buttoned it up... installed it in the fender well. Got out my vida/ cleared the codes... and started it up. Hmm. So... the prompt came back up for alarm service required... but... the sunroof works again. I hate Volvo's. The worst electronics on the planet. I'm buying a horse and saddle....MDK rolling on

The worst electronics on the planet
It is big mistake I think. VOLVO has very good topology and location all electronic stuff.
We can compare, we works with almost all brands and we know about it a lot.
Yes, there are a bit not very lucky solutions, but it is a drop in sea if compare with other brands.

We know how to repair electronics and programming Volvo. Yagger&Doublebug - our experience invaluable.

MDK... really? it's just seems to be always 1000$ to 1500$ repair from the dealer. This forum does an excellent job by the way the moderators do an excellent job. I didn't mean to go on a rant but it's hard to see the value of this brand any more. I know they're supposed to be the safest vehicle to drive but... not safe on the wallet. Perhaps we're under some kind of " lady in the lake" spell hahaha!

When the battery goes in alarm module it can spew corrosives and take out the board, replacing the battery after it dies won’t help then.

You need to removeca shear bolt ( replace with standard) and some models need fender rivets too, to complete job

If you get the module from FCP for $230 the next one is free!

:)

One review warns about your scenario

This is what you need on your P2 Volvo if you get the "Alarm Service Required" warning message on the DIM. The rechargeable battery fails over time on the alarm module, leaks and corrodes the electronics. A lot of times, this is not repairable, so often the best bet is to replace the whole thing. I got 12 or 13 years out of the original module in my car, so I can't complain.
