What am I looking at cost wise for a 15g and a tune? I'm thinking I'll go for it if I can make it happen for around 2k-2.5k

Stage 0 $500
15G off eBay $500 $300
Turbo rebuild kit $150

Lucky tune on Spring Sale at ARD $400

$1300 plus labor on a turbo upgrade is free because it makes you smile.
Stage 0 $500
...just sneaked that in there...

Disclaimer - I don't know jack about tunes so get the real guys to confirm my numbers

My stage 0 is almost complete, when I pull the motor "hopefully here in a few weeks" I'll finish it with a new timing belt and new fluids all around. Can I put a 15g output turbine on my 13g? This way I could have quicker spool an maybe more boost?? I have never had one of these turbos off and apart yet.

There is a good turbo rebuild file in the VRD here on MVS - pictures etc. No idea if the turbines transpose, etc.

FWIW, I just picked up a rebuilt & balanced 16T off eBay for $300.

I'm going to be doing a similar upgrade to my old beast (2000 V70XC 2.4 LPT):

-16T
-Blue injectors
-Tune probably from Hilton Tuning or VAST, looking for like a Stage 1.5
-do88 intercooler
-Mototec downpipe & cat

Already have TME dual exhaust, Snabb intake and RIP kit, IPD filter.

My engine is old, but clean and strong. The plan is to get a tune to keep boost in low teens, at a safe level. The 13T LPT is decently quick off the line, but personally I don't like jamming it from stops. I prefer stronger power in the mid-range and up, like accelerating from 30ish thru 70 etc.

I like Ed's chosen route.

OP you could pick up 15g or 16t, white or blue injectors (they are the functionally the same), bigger downpipe (optional), and tune all within your suggested budget, and be ready to go.

Abscate's listed cost on the turbo is high, Ed's is more typical. I do;t think it is practical/plausible to switch/mix the turbo parts.

You can also get a new compressor wheel and housing from ARD, Kinugawa, or a number of other companies to convert your 13G to a "bigger" TD04HL turbo. They all share the same turbine and center assembly. You'll want a rebuild kit while you're in there.

It's not a hard job, but getting the turbo out to do the work is tedious and the snap ring on the compressor housing really needs a good pair of snap ring pliers.

As stated in one of my previous posts.. the motor will be pulled here in the next few weeks hopefully, this would be a great time to pull the turbo and do some upgrades. How does the td04hl 15 compare with the 13g in terms of boost levels spool up time, flow rates ect? J-dawg you seem to have some experience with this turbo?

Just looking on ebay.. this is the same turbo that the saab 9000 and 9-5 ran, I have a family friend who is a saab mechanic runs his own show.. pretty sure he has a handful of these turbos laying around needing rebuilt🤔 pretty sure I can snag one for next to nothing and rebuild it. The more I talk to you guys the more it make sense. 2.4 motor with its higher comp. ratio will have more torque off the line than a 2.3 or 2.5 hpt car, the tdo4 can push I think 15-16 psi easily. I bet with a td04 my 2.4 will pull on a stock hpt v70.
