1997 850: throws DTC P0410 between 87-90 miles of drive

This was the second occurrence of P0410. CEL came on each time close to 88 miles -- accumulated during a week of urban driving.

This feels unusual, cause pervious experiences were close to 30 miles or immediately at the start of the engine.

P0410 is your secondary air pump. Start by checking the wiring on it for opens, shorts or loose connections.

Yes...but #10 & #28(sas valve) are confusing me since there is only one sas valve on the car.

As far as i know...SAS system which was introduced with Motronic 4.4 management on 850s,must have ONLY one sas valve at the back of the engine.

Yeah, but there can still be more versions of a thing than one. Like, an 850 came with several versions of the 5 cylinder engine, but every car didn't have every version stacked in the engine bay.

I helped a buddy replace the SAS system years ago, and again, iirc, there were 2 different versions. My brain says the difference was the check valve, but it might have been something else. I don't have one of these on my car.

Yes, that's SAS.

There is a well worn and proven path for dealing with P0410: Check that the pump isn't full of water (most common), check the various vacuum lines, know that the SAS valve is bad if you haven't ever replaced it, check the solenoid on the radiator, check the check valve. Or take this as a cue to just get rid of SAS and be done with it.

One (the only?) difference between #10 and #28 is very clear from the image, they mount differently on the exhaust manifold, maybe it's a 10V-20V thing?

No erikv11...10v cars don't have sas system.
At least...i never seen one...yet.
