I need to buy the quick strut Sachs 033078 (Plug-and-Plug) but FCP says it is out for now.
This is the quick strut I want to buy:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... sac-033078
From my extensive search using Volvo web catalog, FCP website and many Volvo dealer websites, the V70 and S60 in the P2 platform share the same:
- Strut Bearing
- Spring Seat
- Coil Spring
- Strut (Sachs or Bilstein)
What I don't understand is why Sachs says:
- 2004 V70: use Sachs 033078
- 2007 V70: use Sachs 033079
- Let's say 2004 S60: use Sachs 033083
I wonder if they are all the same stuff...
I can find some Sachs 033083 as they are still available on some websites and wonder if this S60 thingy fits in my 2004 V70...

We had some negative feedback with these quick struts.. not the worse, but not the best components - these have the lower quality Sachs strut on them
As for the fitments, I know Volvo has several strut numbers from 01-09, I guess variations are for fwd vs rwd cars, and maybe other factors, trims, years, etc. My only concern is I tried on my 2003 several struts and most of them had the front of the car lifted by about 1in which is not fun.

I thought most of the complains were from Monroe and other "no-name" Chinese quick struts.
Most of the reviews on Sachs quick struts (reviews are on FCPEuro website) are good.
I'd NOT think Sachs made a whole bunch of "low-quality" Struts just for the purpose of pre-assembled struts.
Could you direct me to the negative reviews on Sachs struts?

Well cn90..I read your post and I wanted to share with you what I did recently to my 2004 S60 R and my 2002 V70 2.4 non turbo.I bought from Erie Volvo 4 used complete strut assemblies and ditched the 4c suspension and installed 4 standard struts from a 2007 S60 AWD that Erie Volvo sent me. Then.. I had originally bought 2 lower control arms for the wagon but ended up putting them on the R car. Mix and match. MDK rolling on

Thanks but I already called IPD last week.
They do not have it in stock.
Also, IPD web listing says 033079, but photos show one with 033078.
I personally think all these Sachs numbers I posted above are interchangeable for 2001-2007 P2 such as S60, V70 (non-R models).
But if anyone has tried this (using 033079 in a 2004 V70), I'd like to know.
I have verified all individual PNs such as spring seat, strut bearing, strut itself from different vendors, and they fit these years.
I don't know why Sachs 033079 says "From Chassis Range: 547727", whatever it means...

Dang this V70 is costing you a lot of $$, sorry to hear.
I also recall the negative discussion about the Sachs quick strut here at MVS, as Neil mentioned. Hit up the search button.

Thanks all for the replies.
I did a little search on Sachs Struts with White, Blue and ? Red labels.
Confusing topic.
Mixed results, some say white label is so-so, some are very happy with quick struts (Sachs).
Anyway, I will likely do the old fashion way:
- Corteco Strut Bearing
- Sachs XC90 Spring Seat
- Bilstein TC Struts
- Lesjofors Coil Spring

Try ipdusa.com and see how they reference them. In their listings their cross referencing is pretty extensive.cn90 wrote: ↑04 May 2019, 20:29 I need to buy the quick strut Sachs 033078 (Plug-and-Plug) but FCP says it is out for now.

Some of it is here: abscate described having two spring failures (I recall that at least one just broke sitting in the driveway!):cn90 wrote: ↑05 May 2019, 07:45 I thought most of the complains were from Monroe and other "no-name" Chinese quick struts.
