98 V70 glt indicator fuse

Post by stephansvolvo » Mon May 06, 2019 5:21 pm

The other day my turn indicators stopped working. I checked the fuse. Blown. So I put another in. Today that one blew. I replaced it and it blew again.
Not sure why this is happening all of the sudden. Any thoughts?

Possible short at light blubs or socket. Then check wiring near bulbs
Remove all light blubs (turn signals) and then try new fuse.

Yes. I thought I’d start there as well. Just came out of nowhere. So I thought it was weird.

Thank you for your input.

Just to keep things interesting - That fuse handles more than the directionals:

Which fuse?
I am counting at least three it could be.

It’s number 27 in the fuse box under the bonnet. Not the relays. It is the backup lamps and turn lamps

Everything in this box seems to be good to go. Unless it’s a relay that’s giving me the issue which could be bustin the fuse.

Does it blow immediately? When you turn on the key? When you use signals?

And - Just for grins, unplug the hazard light switch and see if you still blow fuse 27.
If it fails, you may have a backup light issue, if not, you're probably still chasing turn signals.

If you have a lot of fuses, just push the hazard light button and see if the fuse blows. The key does not have to be in the switch. Remember, the relay for the turn signals is part of the hazard switch.
