Replace crank seal and oil pump seal
Hi guys, can you tell me what I need to move out of the way to replace oil pump seal, and crank seal on my 1994 Volvo 850 wagon I don't have to drop the engine do I? I've seen videos where you don't have to. I need some insight on this. Thanks guys ......

Re: Replace crank seal and oil pump seal
Timing belt comes off and then the harmonic balancer , or crank pulley.
Engine stays in

Re: Replace crank seal and oil pump seal
Was it possible the last time they did the rear crank seal? That's a real pain in the backside to get at typically.

Re: Replace crank seal and oil pump seal
Also called the crank seal, and that one does require at least a transmission pull, if not an engine pull.wizechatmgr wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 12:45 amWas it possible the last time they did the rear crank seal? That's a real pain in the backside to get at typically.

Re: Replace crank seal and oil pump seal
You didnt say why you need this, but almost all seal leaks involve pressure in the crankcase or cheap seals put in for no real reason.

No, Thank goodness, it's the front, I've watched a few videos and I think the oil pump seal is directly behind it, correct?, mys well do that to don't you agree? she's had this leak for a few yrs. yeah I know, but it's not a bad bad leak, I'm just ready to get her back up to par. Shes been a lovely car, and shes ready for some: Let's Do This TLC.
