'02 V70 XC Shift Cable End/Bushing Topic is solved

I was pulling the shift cable off the PNP switch today, and found out the bushing on the shift cable end was trashed.

Any idea where I can either get a new shift cable end with the bushing, or a new bushing?

Also, suggestions for how to get out the shift cable adjustment bracket?

Don’t hate me, but when I researched this on my T5 stick shift I found Volvo does not sell the bush8ng, but wants 135 bananas for a whole new shift cable. I did find aftermarket bushings that worked well

I quick peeked on the eEuro site and found P80 bushings , but not P2 bushing, #sad trombone

I had reserved myself to the idea of having to call the dealer tomorrow. My concern is I have found the shift cable on some sights, but all have the threaded end without that tip/bushing. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow what the dealer says.

Well that was fun! Yup, dealer quoted me $165 for the entire shifting cable, and no guarantee I can get the end off to just replace that.

So, I know they had one at the junk yard that was in decent shape. I cannot seem to figure out how to get the adjustment device out so I can remove the end tip. Any recommendations? I did read this post, but I didn't understand what precopster recommended for getting it out.

The yellow part is just a lock and slips out on the closed side - but from what Mike says its likely it crumbles when you do this.

I don't think its that important as I think the threads are in the black piece of the cable? If not, then the yellow is important and don't break it.

Ok, figured it out. If you put a screw driver on both ends and twist them, it will come up. Trying to do one side at a time doesn't work so well.

Josh - I just found a decent bushing from my 1999 manual - on the off chance the AT bushings are the same I can send size?
