Anyone use a cordless ratchet for your maintenance?

Post by matthew1 » Wed May 22, 2019 11:48 am

https://toolsfirst.com/best-cordless-ratchet/ - Jacob, the guy who writes/runs that site and I have been chatting over email, and while most of his content is for construction/home repairs, there are a few that cross over to auto. This is one.

I don't have any experience with these, anyone here use one?

Milwaukee M12 1/4 and 3/8 ratchets are FANTASTIC! the 2.0 amp batteries last a full day of use. Many come with 1.5A and that battery is good for most people for a day's use. The charge time is short so the small batteries will fully charge during a 30 minute lunch break.

I've been thinking about getting one for a while now. Looks like it would save a lot of time versus swinging that ratchet back and forth. Just not sure I do enough work to justify the price of one.

I've used mine daily for over 3 years and don't have much to complain about. The ratchet and my 1/4 hex shank impact driver (2462) are probably my most frequently used tools.

I opted for the 3/8 as it has the same case as the 1/4. I wish the direction changing mechanism was different because I've gotten it stuck when I wasn't thinking. I'll definitely buy a new one if/when it dies.

With father's day coming up, they'll probably be on sale soon.
